Botanical gardens: Spring is a perfect time to visit some of the outdoor gardens in the Miami area. With average temperatures in the 70s and 80s, you’ll beat the heat and see some of the area’s most beautiful flowers and plants. The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is perfect if you prefer to hang out in urban South Beach. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden boasts an extensive collection of palms. Vizcaya Museum and Garden combines the outdoor beauty of their impressive gardens with incredible architecture and art in the museum-like house.
Historic locations: South Florida is full of incredible architecture that showcases its vibrant history and culture. After visiting Vizcaya’s home and garden, venture out to some other spots. The Ancient Spanish Monastery dates back to the 12th century and has an amazing story about its relocation to the United States. Don’t miss Coral Castle, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and defies description. Venetian Pool, another location on the National Register of Historic Places, is the largest freshwater pool in the country.
Art: Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art, or MOCA, approaches art in a fresh way with permanent as well as rotating exhibits. The Perez Art Museum, or PAMM, is itself an architectural marvel, housing 20th and 21st century international art. There are countless other museums to explore and enjoy.
